How can I contribute to OpenVT contents?
Most contents on OpenVT are free and open source, allowing any interested person to use, modify and redistribute them as permitted in the respective licence terms.
If you have done modifications, additions or improvements to any content on OpenVT, you are encouraged to share them with the community by contributing to the respective OpenVT respository. A few important points/steps to take if you are interested in contributing:
- Request developer access to the repository holding the content: this will permit you to branch the content and to commit your own changes to a remote branch on OpenVT. Access has to be granted by the owner of the respective repository, so convince them that your modifications are an improvement to the content.
- Sign the contributor licence agreement (see here) and email a signed copy to the repository owners. This will grant you full copyright ownership to your contributions, while granting OpenVT the right to distribute them on the platform for unlimited time.
- Submit a merge request: Once your contributions are ready, ask the repository owners to merge them into the main branch on the respository. This makes your contribution available to the general public.
For further instructions, please consider the corresponding guidelines on the respective repository and/or ask the repository owner(s) for advice.
